Minneapolis, Minnesota

In 1680 French explorers discovered the Dakota Sioux, natives in a gorgeous land they called "Mni" which means water. Later, the U.S acquired the territory from France and established posts there. Thanks to the Saint Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River, lumber become one of the most valuable resources for the city, creating numerous sawmills. Today, it is known as Minneapolis, Minnesota where hundred of lakes dot the land, and sport teams like the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Minnesota Twins play to win! But you can't forget hockey with so much water around, hence the nickname City of Lakes, winter being so prevalent here!
