Out of all the places to feel the first rays of a warm sunrise, nothing can match the peak of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, on the farthest eastern locations in the USA. The Wabanaki people, know as the "People of the First Light," originally inhabited this place known today as Knox/ Hancock Maine. Generations later it was names Sieur de Monts National Monument in 1916, Lafayette National Park in 1919, then officially named Acadia in 1929. The natural wonders of this park east of the Mississippi River contains much of Mount Desert Island and associated smaller islands off the Atlantic coast, making it the perfect spot to listen. For what you may ask? The soothing songs of humpback whales and the distinctive call of puffins along the shore if the beach are some sounds you will never forget here in Acadia National Park.
